Help Us Educate
The Foundation conceives education as the cornerstone of social transformation. For this reason, through the Strategic Line ‘Help Us Educate,’ it seeks to provide solutions to the most pressing challenges faced by children, especially those living in geographically remote areas. In these territories, there are educational institutions that lack proper facilities and necessary equipment to offer education in dignified and quality conditions.
To achieve this, Dr María Luisa Piraquive has implemented a social intervention model based on values as the foundation of this Strategic Line. This strategy is embodied in the development of a pedagogy for life, aiming to instil good habits in the intellectual, physical, social, moral, and emotional aspects of children and young people.
As a result, Help Us Educate develops three educational programmes:
- Building Schools
- My New Family
- Educational Agreements
Programmes of Help Us Educate
Building Schools Programme
Through this programme, it has been possible to reach various communities, including minorities and indigenous ethnic groups living in remote, marginalised, and forgotten places, mostly located in rural areas. These inhabitants live in conditions of extreme poverty and are victims of violence and phenomena such as forced displacement.
Educational Agreements
This programme provides opportunities for people to access quality education. Through agreements with educational institutions in Colombia and abroad, cooperation alliances are established to offer discounts and benefits for various educational levels in face-to-face, virtual, and distance modalities.
My New Family Programme
Through this programme, children from the 5 schools built and 3 refurbished by the Foundation receive educational sponsorship. This includes annual school supplies such as uniforms, footwear, school materials, and more.
Achievements in Education
REDUCED SCHOOL DROPOUT RATES
Beneficiary children express greater motivation to continue their studies, thanks to the support they receive.
STUDY OPPORTUNITIES
Education drives personal, social, and economic development. For this reason, the Foundation works to promote educational access through collaboration with institutions, encouraging human and professional growth.
IMPROVED EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENTS
Studying in a suitable school environment helps children and young people in remote areas receive quality education in optimal conditions. Teachers are better equipped, and student engagement and attendance improve.
